You have to admit, these colorful dogs of uncertain breeding are super cute. And they are an important way SHUG raises funds to bring more dogs from Spain and the Middle East to American couches. But all that cuteness comes with a lot of hard work.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Steps to making SHUGer Dollies:<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Drive to the fabric store<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Search for the cutest material<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Drive home,\u00a0rope in helpers, get to work<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Cut out legs (with or without a pattern)<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Sew legs, leaving one end open<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Refresh adult beverages, if applicable<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Stuff legs (no mean feat, lots of deft work with a hemostat or big tweezer)<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Cut out tails (curly ain\u2019t easy)<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Sew tails (also not easy), leaving one end open<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Stuff tails (see above)<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Order pizza<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Cut out and sew bodies<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Attach legs and tail<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Stuff body<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Eat ice cream<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Whip stitch the bum closed<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Cut out the head (with or without a pattern)<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Sew head<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Pick out cute buttons<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Change your mind and pick out even cuter buttons<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Sew buttons on face<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Stuff head<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Whip stitch head to body<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/sighthoundunderground.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/IMG_2350.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-thumbnail wp-image-461\" alt=\"IMG_2350\" src=\"https:\/\/sighthoundunderground.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/IMG_2350-150x150.jpg\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a>And voila \u2013 we have a SHUGer Dollie.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>All of this is accomplished by SHUG volunteers, usually accompanied by various Sighthounds inspecting the work, stealing snacks off the sewing table and occasionally getting tangled in sewing machine cords.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>You, too, can adopt one of these no-two-are-alike originals (note: these are not dog toys) to help fund SHUG\u2019s efforts.
