Cayenne (DKC Cayenne) is a retired racing Greyhound, born December 9, 2017. He was extremely shy at the track and had bonded with another boy named Floyd. Sadly, Floyd passed away and Cayenne was left alone. He came to SHUG in March (right after the COVID lockdown) and went to a multi-dog foster home where he has blossomed. Although Cayenne still has noise phobia and separation anxiety when left alone, he is a happy (and often naughty) boy in his pack. Through trial and error we have determined that Cayenne needs a 6ft fence and to be with at least three other medium to large breed dogs to feel secure.
Cayenne is fostered in Indiana and his new home needs to be within driving distance. We would strongly prefer that prospective adopters be prepared to visit him several times before moving him. His foster family has worked hard to get this boy comfortable and safe and we're going to do everything in our power to make is transition to his forever home as smooth as possible.
Cayenne's adoption fee is $300.
NOTE: If Cayenne is still listed as available, then he is still available. We are a 100% volunteer organization and most of us have regular "day jobs". Please do not email or call to ask if he's still available, that's super annoying!
